BEITÁ
REHABILITATION | 2018 - 2020 | OLIVERO & BLAND STUDIO

Beitá was the first project I was in charge of when I started working at Olivero&Bland Studio. It is a building located at the 8th avenue of the Historic Center of Guatemala City, just three blocks south of the Central Plaza. It was designed by modernist and renowned Guatemalan architect Carlos Haeussler during the 1950s. The original structure suffered various changes throughout the years, as it was readapted for many uses. The project's main objective was to restore the original design, while reinforcing its structure for future use.
A mixed-use building was adapted to the structure, with shops on the first floor and mezzanine, and studio apartments from the second through seventh floors. The studio apartments range from 26 to 47 m2, all of which have balconies and share two common terraces. The design and restoration process of the historic building was developed alongside the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Guatemala. I was personally in charge of the interior design, layout, architectural drawings, and 3d modelling.
